Greetings from the ever changing world of technology! Here at St. Joseph School, students visit the computer lab once a week. The computers are Internet accessible. Our students have access to a variety of software programs at each computer for productivity and the use of cognitive thinking skills. Students are taught in accordance to the standards set in the Diocese of Arlington Technology Curriculum. Examples listed are only a few examples of the Diocese’s standards for a full detailed copy of the Curriculum please visit the Diocese’s website http://arlingtondiocese.org/catholicschools/curriculumparents.php In grades K-5 students are introduced to various computer applications and how to open them, they also begin a basic vocabulary of computer and technology based terms. Students are also taught basic tool, menu and navigation skills, as well as an introduction to keyboarding . In grades 6-8 students become more advanced in their use of software applications and navigations of the computer and the Internet. Students in these upper grades begin to identify, research and create projects and presentations through the use of Microsoft Office and other similar types of applications. Through the use of certain multi- media programs students will be able to increase and polish their creativity by incorporating core subject projects with Computer class technology. |
