This ministry
actively supports the three charities listed below.
Donations placed in the Poor Box are divided among
the charities. Half of the donations
are given to the Fr. Beiting Appalachian Mission Center
due to our long-standing relationship with them, and the other half is
equally divided among Cross International Catholic Outreach and the Dorothy Day Center.
FR. BEITING APPALACHIAN MISSION CENTER
Originally called St. Jude
Mission, the Father Beiting Appalachian Mission
Center was founded in 1991 by Monsignor Ralph Beiting
as an outreach ministry of St. Jude Parish in Louisa, Kentucky,
where Father Beiting is pastor. The mission
was renamed in honor of Father Beiting in 2005,
when it became an official apostalate of the
Diocese of Lexington. He has resided
in KY since 1950 helping the poor. His plea for help touched the hearts of
our parishioners on his visit to our own St. Joseph parish in 2004. A mission group formed and traveled to the
KY mountains. This began a bi annual
charitable donation drive originating from St. Joseph’s parking lot every Autumn and
Spring. It continues to be anticipated by many each season. For more
information call 606-638-0219 and/or visit their website at http://fatherbeiting.org/
CROSS INTERNATIONAL CATHOLIC OUTREACH

This is a Christ-centered
ministry founded to help the poor throughout the world. Desperate families are assisted through a
network of church-based ministries: feeding centers, orphanages, schools,
clinics, job-training centers, and home building programs. They serve as a disaster relief
organization when needed. More than 98% of their money currently goes to
program services that benefit the poor.

DOROTHY DAY CENTER

This outreach is located at
Saint Francis
University in Loretto, PA,
the location of the friary which is the ‘home’ of our very own T.O.R. friars. It is a volunteer-based agency working for
peace and social justice. The faculty, staff and students of St. Francis U.
help serve at this center. “Who is
Dorothy Day?” She was an American
journalist, social activist and devout Catholic. She defended the poor, forsaken and
homeless and founded the Catholic Worker Movement espousing non violence and
hospitality for the impoverished and downtrodden. She is being considered for
sainthood. She was born in 1897 and died in 1980. For
