Homework Expectations

Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday. It is believed that if students work hard during the week, they should be able to rest/refresh over the weekend. Exceptions will be made for projects and preparations for Terra Nova Testing, and any overdue homework. Students copy their homework assignments into their Assignment Notebook. I ask that a parent or guardian review this nightly, initial the Assignment Book, and provide their child a quiet space to do their homework. Students can expect to have the following homework each night:

 • Read (30 minutes)

 • Math (15-30 minutes)

• Writing (15-30 minutes)

 • Review/study (10-15 minutes)

*Homework should be completed independently since these assignments are on content that has already been taught. It also provides the teacher with good feedback about what students know or don't know. Students: If you have trouble with Math homework or any another written assignment, it is important that you put in your honest effort and show that you've tried your best by writing what you know. This is the teacher's way of seeing what you're thinking and figuring out where you're having trouble. If you're still stumped after 30 minutes of working on any of the homework assignments, please write that on the assignment and have your parent/guardian initial your note to your teacher.

***Please note, it is the student's responsibility to contact the teacher and request any class work and/or homework missed during an absence. This includes attending band practice during the school day!!!
