WHERE THE KEY OF EDUCATION
IS OPENING DOORS TO THE FUTURE
Dear
First Grade Parents:
In
Religion this week, we will be focusing on the January Virtue of Empathy
(reviewing it), and beginning to work on the February Virtue, Cooperation. We will also be directing much effort toward
the activities planned for Catholic Schools Week.
In
Reading this week, the students will be reading another story about
friendship. Unlike last week’s story,
this is a piece of non-fiction. They
will be able to recognize that friends come in “all kinds”, and be able to see
the fun that they can have together.
In Science, we will
begin our review of the 5 animal groups we have been studying. The class will work through a Study Guide along
with their facts booklets in a final review prior to the test next Tuesday,
2/7/12. Once the Study Guide and
booklets are sent home, try to review 2 groups each night. Help your child see the similarities and
differences between groups.
Many of the
children today seemed unsure of what would be going on this week for the
celebration of Catholic Schools Week. I
showed them the schedule of events that was attached to last Friday’s Cargill’s Chronicle. Please refer to the email that went out last
week, and open the link given in the “Friday Folder” section. It would be a good idea to keep a copy of the
schedule on hand for this week’s events and activities. A copy of the email that went out on 1/27/12
is below the Homework. If you are not
getting the Cargill’s Chronicle (Friday Folder email), please let the Office
know. The emails go to the address on
file for this school year. If you have
changed email accounts, they will need to update the records accordingly.
