AXIS Youth Community introduction
"Our St. Joseph's Youth Community is designed to show the youth the importance of a 'Christ centered life.' It is a continuation of their Catholic faith in the context of junior high and high school, stressing such vital components as Christian performance, faith sharing, personal and moral character, sacramental devotion, fellowship, forgiveness and nonviolence, and youth integration at the parish level."
MiNISTRY ELEMENTS
The St. Joseph's Youth Program consists of the following areas:
Sunday Night Life Nights (1st and 3rd Sundays)
Open for all rising 9th-12th grade students: The AXIS youth community meets every other week for the purpose of answering God's call in faithful discipleship. First Sundays are committed to serving others in the parish while third Sundays are for fellowship and prayer. The nights are structured in a way so that the youth understand their vibrant Catholic faith through performance and activity.
Catholic Life Communities (Wednesday Nights)
Wednesday Nights are for small group sharing (9th-12th graders). Small groups take place from 7:15-8:30 p.m. and focus predominantly on spirituality, sharing, and peer accountability. They are moderated by adult volunteers and are often (but not always) separated into guys and girls discussion groups depending on subject matter.
Junior High Youth Program
St. Joseph's parish all has an active junior high youth ministry program for all rising 7th-8th grade students. The program largely concentrates on loving God and Christ through service events, social outings, and monthly spiritual and social meetings.
Spiritual and Service Retreat Outings
The Youth program offers many opportunities to attend spiritual and service oriented retreats. These retreats are designed to nourish the youth in their Catholic faith, and include such events as Mount 2000, SEARCH, and Work Camp. These events are highly encouraged and are often the most fruitful of all the experiences given within the Program.
