Our mission is to provide spiritual, social and financial support to the Pastor and Parish of St. Joseph. All women of the Parish are invited and encouraged to join us for our monthly meetings and various service projects throughout the year. At our monthly meetings we strive for a balance of faith, fellowship and service. Our various services to the parish include (but are not limited to):
Parish Barbecue: Food Preparation, Serving Meals, and Bake Sale
Women’s Retreat: A silent weekend retreat in October each year at Loyola Retreat House in Faulkner, MD
Craft Fair: Last Saturday in October each year, up to 50 vendors of hand-crafted merchandise, door Raffles, and food court. Proceeds benefit St. Joseph Parish, and help fund various community programs.
Backpack Meal Project: once a month we prepare bags of food for children at risk of hunger. Bags are sent home in backpacks from a local elementary school.
Hypothermia Shelter Meals: prepare, deliver and serve hot meals for 40 to the local Hypothermia Shelter as needed from December through March. We typically are asked to provide two or three meals.
Religious Goods Stand: in the vestibule of the Church, open after selected weekend Masses selling small religious items including Holy Water bottles, rosaries, Advent candles religious gifts, and much more. Proceeds fund our various community projects.
Other service projects have included collecting Christmas gifts for needy families, preparation of Christmas cards for Outreach, providing tuition assistance to E.S.L. students as needed, and providing support and assistance with the sacramental reception for Adult converts received into the Church at the Easter Vigil.
Contact and Meeting Times: We meet on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm from September to May, and all are welcome. Many hands make light work – if you would like to join us and/or assist with any of the projects mentioned here contact president Christina Thompson at email: [email protected].
