Reflections for Advent As I was preparing for the Advent Season, I came across several reflections and mediations on ways we could enter into the spirit of this season. Here are a few insights and challenges for each of us:
Reflect on Advent as a time of waiting. Waiting creates in us a new kind of self-discipline that helps us to appreciate the present moment and look to the future with peaceful anticipation.
Take time for prayer. Allow time for the reading and reflection on the Word of God.
Set aside time each day to join Our Lady in praying the Canticle of Mary (see Lk 1:46-55).
Perform an act of kindness for someone every day. It might be an encouraging word, a telephone call, a note of appreciation or an act of kindness.
Celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Take advantage of the opportunity to cleanse your soul in preparation for the coming of Jesus.
Give thanks to God for the special gifts and talents God has given you. How are you using these gifts?
May the Lord bless us this Advent season as we prepare our hearts to welcome Christ our Lord! Father Tom
Peace and good! During Advent we take time each week to light a candle for hope, peace, joy, and love. As each candle in the wreath is lit, our anticipation of God’s redeeming love grows. Advent calls us to cultivate the joy of God in our hearts because we have experienced the grace of new life.
