O.C.I.A. - Order of Christian Initiation Of Adults
Please be aware that in 2024, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) approved (and the Apostolic See confirmed) an updated translation, in both English and Spanish, of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) from the original Latin. The changes include new wording in many of the rites as well as some changes in terminology.
Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands of men and women are received into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new members through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) and at a liturgy bringing men and women into full communion with the Catholic Church.
St. Joseph Catholic Church offers the ORDER OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (OCIA) for those individuals, ages 18 and up, who are interested in becoming Catholics, for those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, Catholics who need to complete the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation, or Catholics seeking to deepen their own journey of faith. We meet each Wednesday from 7:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m. beginning in September and continue until Easter. There is no charge for participation, but registration is required! For more information, or to receive a registration packet, please call Mr. Reyes Ruiz at 703-880-4332.
